Do you design everything yourself or work with a team?

Yes — all creative direction and design work is done by Tanya, the founder of So Swell Studio. As a one-woman Brisbane graphic design studio, every project is managed and designed in-house with intention and care. When needed, we collaborate with trusted Australian experts — such as developers, SEO consultants or copywriters — but all visual design is led by Tanya to ensure consistency, quality and alignment with your brand.

Where is So Swell Studio based?

We’re based in Toowong, Brisbane, but work with clients all across Australia and internationally. Most projects are completed online, making the process seamless wherever you're located.

Why is your studio called So Swell?

The name So Swell is a nod to my roots on the coast of Nova Scotia, Canada — and to the way design, like the ocean, builds momentum and creates lasting impact. For me, great branding is thoughtful, purposeful, and designed to move your business forward.

How did you get into graphic design?

My journey started over 20 years ago in event design, working with non-profit organisations like the MS Society in Atlantic Canada. I handled everything from campaign materials to event marketing and planning. Later, while teaching internationally, I continued to design publications and school marketing. About four years ago, I left education to focus on design full time.

What’s your background before launching So Swell Studio?

Before launching So Swell Studio, I blended design with education, events and marketing. I created campaign materials for non-profits, ran major events, and taught design principles to educators. That mix of communication, strategy and design still shapes everything I do today.
